Debate: Roma Integatration Strategies
The UK government's failure to produce a national Roma strategy is a clear indictment of their unwillingness to tackle inequalities faced by Gypsy, Roma, traveller communities, said West Midlands MEP James Carver speaking during the debate im Brussels this week.
He urged the government to address the issues of lack of accommodation and stopping places, poor access to health care and education, rather than focusing on increasing eviction powers, and to treat these marginalised communities the same as other minority groups in the UK, for the good of all of our society.
