Will the Remoaners please stop blaming every business decision not to manufacture in the UK on Brexit!
Nissan told their staff the decision to keep X-Trail production confined to Japan was because of new diesel regulations and falling sales in Europe (two of the three models are diesel).
They are not moving production of the X-Trail to Europe they are keeping it at home, where it is closer to popular markets.
Nissan has also made it clear they have “full confidence” in the Sunderland plant, are investing heavily in new technologies and powertrains for the next generation of vehicles to be built in the North East and there will be no job losses. Brexit uncertainty, created by the Tories botched negotiations, is not helping firms plan for the future, but it’s not Brexit itself that’s the problem.
