With clean-up costs and last landfill tax revenue depriving our economy of more than £600 million in 2015, these new measures are to be welcomed.
However, we all have a responsibility to ensure that our waste is properly dealt with and is not being dumped illegally, whether at waste sites that operate outside the law, or in lay-bys and hedgerows defacing our countryside.
We also all need to do more to reduce, reuse and recycle!
