Worcester MEP James Carver has welcomed news that go-ahead city firm Gtech is moving some of its production back from China, creating 100 jobs.
Boss Nick Grey said he was responding to consumers who asked why the company did not make its vacuum cleaners, lightweight bikes, power tools and other appliances in the UK.
Mr Carver, UKIP MEP for the West Midlands, said: “Whilst countries like China need our contracts to help them develop move forward – and we all know they’ve a long way to go yet – we also need to restore our production capabilities.
“I’m pleased Mr Grey has taken notice of his customers and the job creation is a welcomed boost for the city and Worcestershire – I hope more will follow in the not too distant future.”
