What a great U-turn by Philip Hammond scrapping the National insurance hike on the self-employed in the face of massive opposition, rejoices West Midlands UKIP MEP James Carver.
The former self-employed businessman said the climb down, in which the Chancellor admitted the plan breached the "spirit" of the manifesto, made his tenure at No. 11 untenable.
“He demonstrated he was quite prepared to break promises to the people of this nation and only back-tracked to stop a rebellion within the Tory ranks.
“Thank God for revolting Conservative backbenchers. Mr Hammond’s days are surely numbered now!” added Mr Carver.
