JCB boss digs further hole in Europhile trade claims

West Midlands MEP James Carver has today welcomed Lord Bamford’s comments over the EU.

UKIP MEP James Carver says the West Midlands-based JCB boss has dug a further hole in the Europhile argument that it would be disastrous for Britain to leave the EU.

Mr Carver, UKIP’s Commonwealth Spokesman, said: “The UK does not need to be in the EU to trade internationally. In fact by leaving the European Union we could set up our own free trade agreements.

“Many big companies have come out against membership of the European Union as Britain, unshackled by EU rules and red tape, would be free to trade with the world.

“JCB is right. We should free ourselves from EU regulation and trade with the world.

“Britain is a major economy so it is ludicrous to suggest that mainland Europe would stop trading with us if we pulled out of the European Union.”
