Key role in leadership team

West Midlands UKIP MEP James Carver has secured a key position in Henry Bolton’s new leadership team.

He joins the top table as Assistant Deputy Leader, along with fellow MEP Mike Hookem.

Making the announcement, which also sees Margot Parker MEP appointed as Deputy Leader, Mr Bolton said:

"UKIP has a moral obligation to hold the Government to account for taking us out of the European Union.

“Clear and decisive leadership is crucial and we shall deliver it.

“Together, my team and I will now commence the urgent work of projecting our party firmly and decisively into British politics with the purpose of securing our nation's interests through Brexit and beyond."

Mr Carver said he was “delighted” to accept the post and was looking forward to helping prepare UKIP for the challenges ahead.

He added: “We will strive to ensure the party continues to have Brexit at its heart and also broad and appealing domestic policies that the branches and membership can focus on in readiness for next year’s local elections.

“I have been a UKIP member for 21 years and a passionate Brexiteer. This new role will run in tandem with my continued commitment to my West Midlands constituents, whom I have represented as an MEP since 2014.”
