West Midlands MEP James Carver rallied Brexiteers in Hampshire last night to lobby for the EU exit the nation voted for.
The Hampshire Out campaign is part of a growing movement sweeping the country as people’s disenchantment with the Tories’ handling of Brexit grows.
Mr Carver (Independent) and other speakers at the cross-party meeting in Shawford, near Winchester, warned there is not much time to make their voices heard and to persuade the government that the electorate rejects its Brexit policy.
Afterwards, he said: “Hampshire Out brought like-minded people together who are setting out to campaign for a hard Brexit – and no deal if needs be - by leafleting the public and urging them to write to their Conservative MP to complain.
“Personally, I think if we leave the EU with no deal, we’ll be in a stronger position then to negotiate a deal from outside and besides, trading on WTO terms is far from crashing out.”
People are also being urged to call their Conservative councillors to complain and to write to the letters’ page of their local newspaper.
