Midlands engine revs up a gear

The publication of a blueprint for major economic growth across the Midlands has been welcomed by West Midlands UKIP MEP James Carver as a “bold and ambitious” plan.

The Midlands Engine Vision for Growth puts the region at the heart of the UK’s post-Brexit future as a global economic power.

The plan, published by the Midlands Engine Partnership, aims to add £54 billion to the Midlands and UK economies by 2030.

Mr Carver said: “The Midlands was always the powerhouse of the nation and, while I do not agree with the need for HS2, this bold and ambitious plan will re-invigorate the region being based on five key investment priorities – connectivity, infrastructure, trade and investment, innovation and enterprise, and promoting the area as a great place to live, visit, learn and work.”
