West Midlands MEP James Carver says the British Government's wide open door immigration policy is unsustainable following the release of new figures which show net migration into the UK reached a record high.
UKIP MEP James Carver, who is a member of the EU's Foreign Affairs Committee, said Prime Minister David Cameron had failed to deliver on his promise to curb the numbers coming into Britain to tens of thousands following the publication of new Office for National Statistics (ONS) figures which show net migration had hit 336,000 in the last year.
Commenting today, Mr Carver said, that only through Britain leaving the EU, could control over the nation's borders be restored.
He said: “These new figures, from the ONS, show the Government's complete and abject failure to control immigration.
“Only through leaving the European Union can we truly have control over own own borders. It is completely nonsensical to have a complete open door to the EU.
“The Conservative Government has performed more u-turns that a driving instructor, whether that be on tax credits and police budgets.
“Now, these ONS figures are evidence that the Government has failed to control net migration despite its rhetoric and pledges.”
