West Midlands UKIP MEP James Carver has paid tribute to former Hereford MP Paul Keetch who died on Wednesday, aged 56.
As a Liberal Democrat, he made his mark on public life by setting himself against the views of the establishment and maintained his own beliefs – notably in his opposition to the Iraq War and as a supporter of Brexit.
Mr Carver said: “I am very sad to hear of his passing. Paul was very affable and personable.
“He was a man of principle, not least in the positions he took over Iraq and Brexit, and was correct to do so. He showed true grit as a politician, with strongly held views and was never afraid to stand up for what he believed.
“My sincere condolences go to his family and friends.”
