The Prime Minister’s whistle-stop tour of the UK has been branded as “nothing more than a PR stunt” by a West Midlands UKIP MEP.
James Carver has questioned Theresa May’s hop around Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales, the North and South of England with her message that the future’s bright.
He said: “She’s meeting pre-arranged groups of people who will undoubtedly have been picked to flatter her and the government’s handling of the Brexit negotiations.
“I’m astonished to learn that she’s not meeting any of our fishing communities who feel they have been sold out by the Tories, and I have to question whether anyone will be giving her a hard time about the transition deal, the fact we will still face control from the EU and the European Court of Justice, or indeed, the lack of progress on the Irish border issue.
“The referendum enfranchised people who had felt disenfranchised – they voted in droves, it was the biggest turnout in an election for years.
“This whistle-stop tour is a stage-managed PR exercise – Thus, how can the Prime Minister get a true snapshot of what the British people really think?”
